Officers at the Hawaii Community Correctional Center Tuesday morning reportedly stopped a detainee from escaping while he was being escorted to a housing unit.

The detainee, Keanu Krause, who is awaiting trial on theft and burglary allegations, reportedly tried to escape over a perimeter fence, according to a release from the Hawaii Department of Public Safety.

Krause man was later treated by medical staff for minor abrasions.

A temporary lockdown was also put in place before being lifted about an hour later. There weren’t any other incidents, the release said. An internal investigation is underway and an attempted escape charge is being filed with the Hawaii Police Department.
